Story
London Marathon has always been a lifetime goal for me.
Many people will know that running is a massive part of my life to help me feel and remain healthy!
In 2019, I was diagnosed with low grade serous ovarian cancer. I had a 5 hour operation to remove the cancer. I was told the operation was successful and no evidence of disease on the scan!
In Nov 2020, I was told I’d had a recurrence and had to undergo a further 7 hour operation having a bowel resection, partial removal of my bladder, stripping of my liver, diaphragm and peritoneum. Also there was a lot of disease around the nerves so I still have small areas of numbness and stabbing pains in my left foot.
Unfortunately this time, there was still spots of disease on my spleen so now I am on hormone blockers to keep this area small and stable and have scans every 3 months.
Now it’s my turn to live my life again! I’ve started my masters and feel it’s about time to tick London marathon off the bucket list!
In October 2021, I had a further complication of a bowel obstruction that was caused my scar tissue from my previous surgery. London marathon will mark 12 months (give or take) since this operation so will be a perfect way to celebrate my health!
I have chosen the countess charity to fundraise for as not only has the hospital supported me as an employee over the past 3 years but also as a patient so do this to give back as thanks for all the support and care I have received!
