Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For 26 minutes of my daily walk, I will be picking up as much litter from as possible my local beach to raise money for OneKind, but also to make a positive impact in my community during lockdown.
Lower Sandwick beach is FULL of plastic. I have found multiple washed up seabirds down on the beach, and although I cannot say for certain, I imagine they have ingested a great deal of plastic during their lives. I want to make sure that the litter on this beach does not end up in the stomachs of seabirds or any other wild animals. As part of the 2.6 challenge, I'm going to be cleaning this beach up every day for a week and seeing how much litter I can gather.
Not only will this benefit the local beach and its wildlife, but all the money raised will go straight to OneKind, a charity I hold very close to my heart. OneKind campaign for animal rights across Scotland, and have a number of victories to their name. They have banned the use of live animals in circus, made the hunting of hares and foxes with dogs illegal, and made CCTV mandatory in all Scottish abattoirs. They, like all other UK charities, have been greatly affected by COVID-19, and have had to cancel or postpone all of their scheduled events.
I would be so grateful if you could spare a few pounds to help OneKind and sponsor my fundraising event - every little helps!
