I am hoping to complete the Edinburgh full marathon this year in aide of Roxburghe House in Aberdeen who have helped me care for my mum, Betty, amazingly over the past 12 months. Unfortunately mums cancer has taken over, and mums coming to the end of her tough battle with Pancreatic cancer, and is currently in Roxburghe House indefinitely.

Most of you will remember I completed the Edinburgh 1/2 marathon last year in aide of Macmillan. We raised £1400 due to your generosity and belief in me.. I need this again and a little more this year if you don't mind!!?

This year has been the toughest of my/our life. Mum came home from Roxburghe House to live with us while she was still able to in Aug 2013. She managed to have a little normality with the help of Macmillan nurses and weekly Roxburgh visits. We even had a 60th party for her-knowing it was to be her last. Unfortunately mums health began to get poorer towards Christmas, and on New years day she was rushed in by ambulance back to Roxburghe.. we thought we'd lost her. Mum slowly made some recovery, but was still visibly and physically more poorly. Mum hasn't left her Hospice bed since that day.

Unfortunately as I write this, mums only got days left with us and her battles coming to an end. 

The nurses and doctors at Roxburghe have become 2nd family to me and mum. They have seen us at our most vulnerable points when we have been beside ourselves, and have forged a bond with us-mainly mum, that have honestly made us feel part of the Roxburghe family. The nurses, I cant thank enough for there support and pataience with us-mainly me!:/ and their dedication and  handling of their paliative care with every family I see come through those doors.
