Story

"no-one is actually dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away"

On the 9th of November my wonderful sister Kirsten was so tragically taken from us. Kirsten had the most beautiful soul and will be so missed by her family, friends and colleagues.

Kirsten specialised in psychiatric nursing and put her heart and soul into the work she did at Stobhill, Skye House. There she was a Care Manager with the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, working with inpatients aged 12 to 18 years old, supporting them and their families.

Kirsten was so passionate about her job and never seemed to leave her work behind, worrying off-shift about the youngsters she worked with. The work she did in the CAMHS unit was a huge benefit to the patients and their families, and to the wider society. Upon visiting Kirsten's desk we found piles of thank you cards from the families she supported over the years with "thank you for giving our child a second chance" and "you went above and beyond" being quoted frequently.

Kirsten’s life has been one of action, of doing and being, and making a difference. We do not know how many young people she helped over the course of her career, nor how many people in their families she helped, and through them, the wider community. What is certain though is that the ripple like effect of her kindness and concern for others has travelled out from her to many, many others.

I want to continue some of the good that Kirsten did for Skye House, a cause so close to my dear sister's heart.

You wouldn’t want us to stop dancing – you would want us to dance on to the tunes that lift our spirits and remind us of you.

Kirsten we love you, we miss you, we want you to be happy
Go safely, go dancing, go running home. ♡
