I’m so proud to be part of such an amazing charity .Each season at the Ageas Bowl I help to raise money for so many different needs . HAMPSHIRE CRICKET IN THE COMMUNITY is about helping more than just one cause . The money we raise gets put back into many local charities such as The British Heart Foundation , school projects and programmes on health fitness and the prevention of child obesity . We help to support people young and old , Those living with Dementia , children’s mental health and well being. This is why it’s so important for me to raise as much as I can by doing this challenge. I have friends and family who have battled cancer , mental health issues or struggling with other illness’s. Of course never forgetting those who have lost their battles . Many charities are close to my heart and it’s hard to single out one to support individually . This why Hampshire cricket in the community is such a worthy charity . Your donations go further and reach a bigger spectrum and raising awareness as for many of us in life we are touched at some point by more than one problem . I want to continue to help make that difference to people’s lives and with your support we can do this together . xxxxxxxx
SO WHAT WILL I BE DOING ? Well I head off next January to Northern Finland with a group of other fundraisers that I will have not met and I’m sure this challenge is going to push me out of my comfort zone . I will be snowshoeing across the wildnerness through forests , steep inclines and frozen lakes. The temperatures may reach as low as -30 and there will be wolves and elks all living in their natural habitat. I will certainly be put through my paces and at times the snow will be knee deep and I will need to keep focused if I am going to snowshoe for up to 7-8 hours a day. All the time in whatever conditions Mother Nature throws at us ! Once we reach our base camp lodge we will eat by the campfire and have not have the luxury of electricity. We will be up before the dawn to take a slightly different route back through the forests on another 7 hour journey to complete the round trip .
I’m nervous because I’ve never experienced anything like this before or done anything without the support of someone I know and Ive never been anywhere with such a harsh environment. I also need to train well in the months ahead to strengthen my legs and my lower back as I’m sure I’ve bored you all at some point with my episodes of acute back pain haha !
If I survive the two days of intense trekking in these conditions then before flying home will be rewarded with huskie dog sledding ,something I have to say I’m so excited for . I may even catch a glimpse of those stunning northern lights .
My goal to raise above and beyond the target of £2,300 . Please know that each and every donation will be so humbly received and will your support we will helping together.
I’m looking forward to seeing many of your faces at the ground this year and I will keep you updated with my training progress .
Much love Kim ... I can’t wait to help make that difference
