Story
When I was little, I was sick. I was in and out of the doctor's offices and the hospital. I had all these tests for months. During that period of time, I was scared, and I was confused. After all the tests, it turned out that I was ok, which made everyone happy. That's when I decided to become a doctor - so I can help kids who are sick. Because even though I was ok -- it's still really scary to be sick. And we need to help children feel not so alone and scared.
When I was asked to do a Bat Mitzvah project, I decided to create a charity to help kids in the hospital to do just that.
I am launching a program called "Kids Deliver." It is an organization of kids and their families who support The Nathaniel Rand Playroom Program and The Phoebe H. Stein Child Life Program at Montefiore Medical Center in NYC.
The playroom brings the joy of play to the patients at the hospital, and the Child Life program uses creative, art and play therapies to improve the quality of life of seriously ill children.
Our first initiatives will be raising money for the program and creating care packages for the Nathaniel Rand Playroom.
There are lots of ways to join us -- give a care package, donate money, volunteer.... or just spread the word!
Thank you for joining us to bring love, connection and hope to these children.
With love,
Kate Weiss xo
