Yorkshire Wolds Cycle Challenge 2021 · 4 September 2021
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I completed the Challenge in 2017 but was unable to arrange sponsorship at that time due to the late invitation. I hope that you will support my efforts this year.
To provide myself with a challenge, I will be cycling from Clydebank to Malton in Late August , arriving in Malton a couple of days before the official two day challebge. The total anticipated distance is about 450 miles.
Due to the updated Covid advice (July 21) I have now been able to book all my accomodation and the travel plan is in place.
I am now back from a short break cycling from Oban to Clydebank via Kintye, Cowal and Bute , where I visited bowling clubs on behalf of the SBF. (See Gallery).

I have now completed the cycle from Clydebank to Malton and the main Yorkshire Wolds Challenge on the 04th and 05th of September. The route down to Malton was via the national Cycling Network with the exception of the Reeth to Stokesley run due to poor visibility on the hills.
I will update the gallery in due course.
Acknowledgements
No charity cycle can be achieved without some assistance from external stakeholders. This run is no exception.
Laundry services by Sue , my host B&B at the Blacksheep House , Elsrickle, Abbey Guest House in Carlisle. A very special thanks to Rooms Exclusive Housekeeping in Stokesley Industrial Estate who laundered virtually all my laundry as a gesture to assist my charitable efforts. I found it amazing that towns like Carlisle and Penrith had no Laundry service providers.
Cycle Repairs in Stokesley and Cycle Heaven in Fulford, York who facilitated urgent repairs to my front mech before the Wolds Challenge weekend.
To my fellow bowlers in Moffat and Malton for their guidance and support on local issues and potential retailers for specialist needs.
To my colleagues at Sustrans who endevour to provide safe and relatively traffic free routes accross the country. In particular the NCR's 7, 74 and 75 in Scotland, 7, 66,68 , 164,166 and 167 in England.
On one occasion I was cycling parrell to the notorious A74 in Scotland between Lockerbie and Gretna. You could hear the roar of the traffic but could not see it. Some of these routes run through the most picturesque scences in the United Kingdom which include the Scottish Borders, North Cumbria, Yorkshire Dales and the North Pennines.
Finally, to my sister, Dr. Veronica McKay for her hospitality during my rest days and company during the Wolds cycle.

this email finds you well
I'm delighted to say, having counted up all the sponsorship and added in Gift Aid donations where appropriate, I'm delighted to say that the total amount raised, after
all costs related to the event, is an amazing £20,070!
What an incredible effort and even more so given that we only had 87
riders taking part this year!
On behalf of the charity, Ryedale Special Families, I'd like to pass on their sincere thanks to everyone. The money will all go towards helping them continue the
work they do supporting over 400 families who have children with
disabilities and additional needs.
Plans are all now in place for next year's event which will take place over the weekend of Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd July. Our aim is to get the numbers
back up to around the usual 200 mark and I'm delighted to say we
already have 50 entries, so a big thanks to all of you who have
entered!
Look forward to another great event next year and thanks again.
Best wishes
Rob Davies
