Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I first found out about JAC when H was in year 6 and they offered her sessions because she was anxious about starting secondary school. At these sessions she experienced animal encounters and the opportunity to talk to other children, who were anxious about the move to secondary school, in a safe, supportive and non-judgemental environment. Since then H attended their fun days and horse experience days during school holidays. During one such occasion I mentioned to a member of the team that H was finding secondary school a bit overwhelming, she advised that H attended one of their small group sessions where she would learn animal care while having the opportunity to discuss any of her worries if she wanted to. H thoroughly enjoys their sessions, but then with the lockdown she thought she would have no contact with the charity until lockdown was over. However, the charity set up zoom calls for the group and they have the chance to chat about their week and do activities together while on the zoom call. The highlight for H is when they are given a virtual tour so she can see all the animals that she loves.
The charity offers so much support to young people, in the community, in so many ways and Haidee and I just want to do something for them in return.
We are going to do a 2.6 mile walk every day for 10 days. While we normally do long family walks, these will be my longest walks since recovering from Covid—19. Fingers crossed the breathlessness doesn’t return 😁
