Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This event I'm taking part in is a 24hr swim. Beginning at 7pm on Tuesday 21st June and finishing 7pm Wednesday 22nd June, the challenge is to swim one mile, every hour, beginning on the hour, for the 24hrs.  Myself and Tracey will be taking turns, so each swimming a mile every other hour. This is not wimping out!  Stopping and starting is a challenge in itself. 

I'm raising funds for Book Aid International because of their excellent work in bringing the gift of books to so many different people, cultures and countries; helping to inspire people, educate and share the love of literacy and stories. 

From their mobile libraries in sub-Saharan Africa, to providing books to prisons in Uganda; to developing librarian skills and to giving access to diagnostic and pharmaceutical manuals.

These things change lives and help people to help themselves.

As an author myself, who's worked with disadvantaged communities, the power of literacy and education is something I feel very strongly about and have seen at first hand how access to literature can help to inspire people.
