Story
🎉⭐GET ME⭐🎉
In 2021 I completed my first virtual London Marathon in Memory of my Dad and his late wife and had great support from family and friends. After completing my 2nd in 2022 I was given the option to enter the ballot for the real deal in London of 2023 . I entered for a laugh as I knew it would undoubtedly be rejected like alot of people experience 🤣 to my amazement i received an email soon after informing me that I was successful to take part in April 2023 and I was "IN" My first thoughts were oh ........ !!!!! Its really going to happen. Not bad going considering it was the first time I've ever applied.
Sadly In the December of 2022 i became very unwell and was poorly for a solid 4 months back to back with COVID and then pneumonia which resulted me being on constant antibiotics and steroids for almost 3 months. If that wasn't enough I then had COVID again which severely affected my asthma and within 48 hours of my 2nd positive test I was admitted to Hospital . Yet again more antibiotics and steroids along with antibodies which then caused my heart to go to spasm. I had to make the decision to withdraw my place from the London Marathon and get it deferred 4 weeks before the event as I couldn't walk a mile let alone run 26.2
December 2023 i was yet again faced with covid and thankfully no where near as bad as I was previously, thanks to emergency rescue medication. Stsrt of Jan 24 training started.
Im now back to full health with new medication and thankfully off steroids with constant reviews from the COVID team, cardiology and respiratory who are happy and have given me the green light.
Im determined to get back to my previous fitness levels if not better and so far all is going well and in the right direction. "Gradually does it" ! So since May ive lost 2 stone out of the 3 that I gained from all the medication and lack of exercise. My aim is to do something slightly different each month to improve my strength and stamina which is also going well and better than expected. Small steps yet big progress.
Im not looking or aiming for a time to compleate the Marathon im just so greatfull that I can now finally get to do it for all those that camt and to remember my heavenly relatives and to enjoy it without putting pressure on myself.
I will be doing a few fundraising events to help me reach my Target as im fundraising for my much loved charity💚🐻 who have now become part of my extended family, so any support would be absolutely amazing.
Florence Nightingale Hospice is incredible they help to care for our community with life limiting illness and disease with an inpatient ward which is like a home from home environment and a home service for adults amd children . There support extendeds to families and friends by offering bereavement listening services which I personally benefited from after loosing my Dad who was cared for as an inpatient for a long time aswell as my mother in law. . Florence has that warm heart feeling from everyone you meet and the specialist teams around end of life care is in discribalbe, these are our earth angels.
So here goes 1ST TIMER doing the London Marathon !!!😱
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
