Story

Big news!! This year I am lacing up my hiking boots and taking on the Machu Picchu challenge in aid of Unseen, a charity working towards putting a stop to modern slavery and human trafficking.

Around 40.3 million individuals across the globe are affected by modern slavery, including 136,000 individuals in the UK alone, where they are forced into labor, sexual exploitation, and marriage.  Unseen supports survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking to rebuild their lives, helping them to escape their situation through the use of the Modern Slavery & Exploitation Helpline and taking care of them in safe houses. Ending this crisis requires the work of charities like Unseen, whose ability to prosecute exploiters and serve survivors is limited by funding. This is why I am raising money and awareness for this organization by walking the 6-day trek along the Inca Trail, traversing a variety of terrains, and reaching heights of over 4,600 m.

Especially during a pandemic, where we have been in and out of lockdowns, it is even more difficult for victims to come forward and access the support they need- making your support more important than ever.

I know most of us are students but any donations would be hugely appreciated!!
