Story

Our friend and colleague, Keith Landon, sadly and unexpectedly, died on Friday 8 January 2021.

Keith was very well thought of throughout EDF and across our industry partners and he became a friend to many during the 37 years that he worked for the company. Keith was known not just for his friendliness and kindness but his exceptional knowledge, experience and expertise in our industry.

In the previous 12 months Keith’s family have been seeking support from their local NHS in relation to his son, Daniel, and his unexpected epilepsy diagnosis. Their local NHS have been an invaluable source of support for them without which their journey through diagnosis would have been significantly more difficult.

When we approached Keith’s family to ask whether there was a specific cause we could fundraise for in his memory, because of  these recent experiences and the significant help they personally received, they felt that a children’s epilepsy charity would be close to Keith’s heart.

The funds raised through Keith’s memorial page will be ring fenced to ensure they are spent on Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s Children’s Epilepsy Service, who provide care to children and young people with epilepsy across Greenwich & Bexley London Borough’s. The Children’s Epilepsy Team have an ambition to raise enough to support the launch of a specialist secure video sharing technology, designed for the parents and carers of children with epilepsy, just like Keith’s family.

This secure video sharing technology, which is accessible through smartphone and computers, will allow families to share information and footage of potential seizures episodes directly with Doctors and Specialist Nurses. This new technology platform can contribute to faster and more accurate diagnosis and aid the clinical experts in making decisions about management and treatment, as well as enabling better communication between parents and the specialist team that supports their child. It can also reduce the likelihood of Hospital admissions, and for invasive tests and investigations which can be daunting for children and young people.

If you can contribute, please also leave your messages of condolence and memories of Keith which we will make sure are shared with his family.

Thank you.
