Story
After the success of Kazzoo’s hike up Scafell Pike
last year, we decided to go bigger this time and take on the challenge of Ben
Nevis. We will be doing this on Sunday, 28 August, along with around 20
others, raising funds for two local charities, Menphys and Lamp. The
mountain is 1,345 metres high and the walk, which should take us between 7-9
hours, is 16.5km long. Let’s hope it’s not too hot a day! It usually rains on
Bank Holiday weekends, right?
Both charities do amazing work within the community.
Menphys is a local charity that provides a range of specialist services to support children
and young adults with additional needs and disabilities and their families. It has been supporting families across Leicester and Leicestershire for 50 years, striving to give young people equal choices, equal opportunities to
allow them to live ordinary lives.
Lamp has and always will be, a champion for mental health. They are an independent mental health charity founded in 1989. Their service is independent, confidential, trusted and non-judgemental. They provide free community mental health advocacy for people living in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland as well as Carers Advocacy for people in these areas. Their aim is for you to feel valued, listened to and more able to cope and to be able to access the services to support your needs.
Our aim is to raise at least £5,000 that will be split equally between the two charities. If you are able to offer us your
support, in the form of a donation, we would be most grateful.
