Maternal mortality (mothers dying in pregnancy) is a major reversible social injustice in the world. Rates in low income countries are 100 times greater than they could be. The main causes (bleeding, infection and hypertension) are easily treated if women can get to health facilities in a timely manner. This also saves many babies. Uptake of care is a major barrier and APEC International aims to provide a culturally sensitive web based resource suited to help women understand the actions needed to improve outcomes. We need to make educational resources in local languages, including video information and guidance.
APEC International is a global web-based resource aimed at reducing maternal and neonatal health inequality from pre-eclampsia and hypertensive disorders. It will provide educational materials aimed at increasing awareness and improving outcomes for women and babies. Engage, Educate, Empower.
