Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I made it across the finish line just ahead of a galloping rhino! However, I think there was a whole herd taking part as I was passed by several during the day, not to mention a tyrannosaurus rex, a camel and someone dressed as Big Ben. It was very cold but at least it was dry and I got round in 6:24:47. I was quite leery about how I would fare this time as I knew I hadn't put in the training I had for previous marathons but as usual, the enthusiasm of the crowds lining the route, my fellow runners and walkers and the loud and rhythmic bands, gave me energy and kept me buoyant. At one point I ran alongside a girl who was running for St Michael's Hospice - it was her first marathon and she told me she was doing it because of the wonderful care her mother-in-law had received which enabled her to die peacefully at home. She said she hadn't realised until then how wonderful hospices were, the support they gave to families or that they had to raise most of their running costs themselves. I found the whole experience emotionally uplifting and to make it across the finish line ahead of a rhino was just the icing on the cake!
Thank you, thank you so much for supporting me and for raising this enormous sum for our hospices.
