Story
Guiding has always been there for me since I was 5, through every up and every down. A few weeks ago all Guiding activities were cancelled, it was a strange feeling, it felt like it was just gone. But my Guiding didn’t end, some of the Brownies and the Guides have still been putting their uniform on and have still been doing activities and I’ve been able to keep Guiding through adapting our normal activities for home. It was different but a good different.
Not long after the announcement that meetings would be cancelled I woke up one morning out of breath. For four days I felt like I was at mile 16 of a marathon that was all uphill. It was scary. I couldn’t make it down the stairs without a rest at the bottom, going up the stairs needed a break half way up. But the pictures of what the girls were doing to keep their Guiding spirit going helped so much. So this is for them. I’m going to get up those stairs 26 times a day every day for 26 days. I’m fundraising for my three units so next term and the term after we can still do the activities that need all the equipment and the Guides can still have the cooking activities they love so much along with paying the rent and our annual census.
Guiding has always been there for me and I want to make sure the experiences I’ve had are always there for the girls.
