I've been tempted by this challenge for a couple of years now. I've persuaded Mark to join me so here we go. I think it was the promise of cake at the top of each of the 10fells that clinched the deal. 

As well as hopefully raising money to help the MS Society continue their work in finding a cure for MS, I hope to raise awareness of the condition. It's known as the snowflake disease as everyone is affected differently with a massive spectrum of symptoms.

I was diagnosed with clinically isolated syndrome in 2016, and although MS was mentioned as a possibility we were told it was unlikely. Unfortunately 12months later I noticed new symptoms and they confirmed MS. I feel lucky to have had a series of infusion treatments called Lemtrada in 2017 and 2018 which is currently working really well in controlling any progression. I will only need to consider further treatment if/when I have new changes (lesions) on my brain and/or spine on an MRI scan. In the 6years since I first had Lemtrada there is already a number of new treatments to hopefully slow/reduce disease progression. While this is amazing, it still isn't a cure. 

While you'll quite possibly see me out walking the dog, running or walking the fells, MS affects not only my life every single day, but also that of Mark and the kids. I'm just determined to keep myself fit and active for as long as possible. Alongside the treatment that's really the best thing I can do to help myself. And it makes me bearable to live with 🤭
