Story
Hannah and I will be running a half marathon (21km) for the Monmouth Comprehensive School Boat Club.
In light of the recent flooding in South Wales, part of our equipment, as well as our electricity and water supply, was damaged. We have also been unfortunate with one of our club's older boats, which has been broken twice this academic year.
This makes this year's half marathon fundraiser even more crucial to keep the club going. If you could donate, any amount would be greatly appreciated. We can claim GiftAid on donations due to being a registered charity, and if we meet our aim of £250 we can claim over £50.
This money will go to paying our coaches in the absence of the club's long-standing head coach, Dan Cowton, funding race transport and entries, and generally upkeeping the club's facilities and equipment. We ask for this money because one of the club's core beliefs is that anyone can join regardless of their circumstances.
The Monmouth Comprehensive School boat club is one of the only boat clubs in the country to be part of a state school. Though the school is generous in its support, due budget cuts, we rely less and less on the school and more and more on donations for our funding. We want to be able to support people in this amazing sport, providing them with the requirements that they need to be able to get the most out of it; it is beneficial mentally, socially, and physically for everyone involved.
Thank you.
