Story
Hello! I am taking on my #MASH30for30 challenge to mark MASH's 30th anniversary. Thank you for your support!
I turned 30 in 2020 but as we all know it was a terrible year and it felt like there was little to be celebrated. I lost my beautiful mum and dad in the months either side of my 30th birthday and things felt very dark. I have been volunteering with MASH since Spring 2021 and I enjoy every minute of it. I couldn’t think of a better charity to support to celebrate my 31st and their 30th birthday! Alongside the women they support I feel that volunteering with the team also helped me through a difficult time too and I am very grateful. This will be my first birthday without my mum and alongside feeling sad I would love something good to come out of this too - please spare anything you can to support this lovely charity who help so much.
It really means a lot to me as MASH works hard to support women who sex work to help them with health, safety and wellbeing. Women they support are experiencing homelessness, violence, mental ill health, poverty and more - but MASH is there for them. They have an outreach van which goes out at night, a lovely drop-in centre and a clinic."MASH is my first, second and third lifeline.""Thank you for having my back. It's great to know someone cares.""MASH saved my life"2021 marks 30 years since a group of volunteers first got together to support sex workers in Manchester by handing out hot drinks and condoms during the height of the HIV and Aids pandemic. MASH may look very different now, but its heart and purpose has never changed. I'm taking part in the 30 for 30 challenge to help keep MASH running for as long as women need their support.
