14th December would have been Russ's birthday. For those of you who don't know who Russ was, he was a Son, Brother, Nephew, Uncle, Dear Friend and Volunteer Blood Biker.
On 5th May 2018, Russ was tragically, killed in an RTC, whilst transporting urgent blood samples from Westmoreland General Hospital in Kendal, to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. That night, his family and friends lost a shining light from our lives.
North West Blood Bikes Lancs and Lakes, is a charity made up of people from all walks of life, giving their time, for free, to help save vital funds for our beloved NHS. EVERY SINGLE member, gives their time for free. From riders, controllers, fundraisers, committee members, all the way up to our Chairman. Every penny raised, goes into keeping the charity running and our liveried bikes on the road.
For more information on the charity please follow the link below: https://nwbb-lancs.org/
Normally, the Saturday closest to 14th December (Russ's Birthday) is designated to a charity collection at Asda, in Kendal. However, this year, because of the devastating effects of Covid 19, lockdowns and restrictions, our charity, (along with thousands of other charities) has been unable to do any face to face collections, due to social distancing measures.
Russell's family have requested that we do an online fundraiser, instead. Both to remember him, on his birthday and raise awareness of the charity.
Every penny helps, so please, give what you can and don't feel bad if you can't 💚💚💚
