Story
Cancer is that awful word we all fear and in that brief dark moment we hear it has struck a loved one, your world falls apart. When a 15 year old family friend was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma it turned my life upside down not to mention my mum's, when her partner later lost his battle to lung cancer aged 65.
Its unquestionable, cancer affects us all, we all have a story, it doesn't matter who you are, how old, what you've achieved and what you want to become.....its indiscriminate, if it wants you, there is no escaping it.
Time is shortening, maybe for us all, and whilst my daily life takes on challenges many wouldn't dream of, riding this race gives me opportunity to raise the bar, step away from the norm and give something back in an effort to inspire those waging a brave fight against cancer and to those who make life with cancer, a life still worth living.
We can't plan for it, we can't save for it, we can only battle it but regardless of who it gets and what family's heart it breaks, Macmillan are the only people who are with you every step of the way.
See I know, because I've seen them too many times in my life and who knows, maybe I will see them again.....from nurses to therapists, advisors and experts, they were invaluable in so many ways.....but I also know they cannot work without people like us - the fundraisers!
