Story

This year’s King Of Hearts Festival will be on the 18th Feb starting at 2pm. Tickets will be £5 on the door. This page is for people who cannot make the festival but still wish to donate to the cause.

This year’s charity will be KidsAid. KidsAid is a child-centred charity. They focus on prevention, healing and empowerment for children and families affected by abuse, family breakdown, illness, and bereavement through to anxiety, depression, self-harm, and suicide.

The reason for choosing KidsAid is that this year’s festival will be in memory of Chris Sims who sadly passed away on the 8th October 2022. Chris was an amazing man and a great friend of those who organise the festival.

One of Chris’ big passions was family and there was never a day when I spoke to him when he did not speak to me about kids or grandkids so we feel this is the perfect charity to support in memory of Chris.

Some words about Chris from his family.

Chris will be missed by many. He was a kind, loyal and caring, husband, dad, son, brother, uncle, grand dad and friend. Some may say rough around the edges, but that is what made him special.

Chris was a loving and caring husband, who met his lovely wife Tina at the age of 14 and they spent many happy years together.

His other love being rugby, being a Saints season ticket holder, where he always loved to be and he also created a team of like-minded people who loved playing rugby, where everyone was welcome no matter the fitness, The Eastern District Warriors.

He was a wonderful and caring dad and granddad. He had a wonderful relationship with his children Tom and Abi, who saw him as a best friend, and someone they could rely on to always have their backs. He saw his grand-kids Ada and Brodie as perfect little angels and not a day went past when he wouldn’t talk about or show how extremely proud he was of his family. Family always came first for Chris.

Anyone who knew him, with their own little families, would get asked every time they met him, how they all were. Not because he had to, but because he genuinely cared. He had a heart of gold and you won’t find a more genuine and true person than Chris.

He has been described as kind, funny, mad, loyal, protective, helpful, intelligent, wise, the rock of the family and the light in their life. He always knew how to best support those around him.

There are countless tales from, his wife, his family and his friends that show his humour, his good nature and his love. The world is a poorer place without a man like Chris and if there were more like him in the world, we would all live in a happier place.

I am certain that Chris would have loved it if you could join us to celebrate his life, and to come have a drink and a good time at the festival. But if it is not your sort of thing but you still wish to lend your support, please use this page to make a donation, it will be greatly appreciated.
