30/03/21 **(another) UPDATE**
We've reached our distance target of 1700km.. so we are now pushing on to try and do the Greater Himalaya Range, 4500km 😃💪🏼
‐----‐-------------------------------------------
The KE community are going to see how far we can get along the Great Himalayan Trail in Nepal (1700km) in March and April, we’ll be walking, running, swimming and cycling in our local areas to clock up the distance … how far can we get??
We’re raising funds to purchase fruit trees in Nepal (hopefully 4000 trees!), to be planted in small villages in the Kinga valley. The saplings, a mixture of Walnut, Pecan, Peach, Plum, Sichuan Pepper, Mandarin and Lapsi, will generate fruit income for up to 10 years as they grow.
It costs £15 for 20 trees .. that's all the way from being purchased in Kathmandu to being delivered in the remote villages.
The Juniper Trust was founded in 1994 by a group of volunteers, inspired by writer and teacher Angela Locke following her first visit to Nepal. Since those early beginnings, JT has grown and supported many worthwhile projects across the world, but its basic vision remains the same as it was at the start: to work in a low-impact, sustainable way to support the poorest communities, particularly children, listening to community needs in the developing world.
