Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page :)
I have started this page as my contribution to the #TwoPointSixChallenge. I know I look athletic but truth be told I'm far from it LOL so I was never going to run a marathon. Music is more up my street; I love to sing so what better way for me to complete the challenge than through song :)
I'll be posting the videos on my instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/k.dene/ and my facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/K.DeneOfficial so stay tuned..
So why am I doing this?
The African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust (ACLT) means a lot to me. They've been supporting me and my family since we first found out about them roughly 7 years ago. Honestly, the founders and entire team are the BEST people! Some of you may know, others may not, but it's been just over 7 years since my younger brother was diagnosed with a rare and severe blood disorder called Aplastic Anaemia (you can look it up if you want but in short it's a disease where someone's immune system destroys their own body's blood cells). I found out about ACLT when my brother was in hospital, because they work tirelessly to offer hope and improve the odds of survival for people like my brother by promoting and raising awareness of blood, stem cell and organ donation - particularly within BAME communities where there's an extreme shortage of potential life-saving donors. ACLT's work is driven by the belief that no-one should die waiting for a donor to become available.
The charity also provide support and advice to patients and their families throughout treatment, from diagnosis to recovery and sadly (in some cases) support the patient and family during 'end of life' where treatments haven't been successful.
This charity has supported so many individuals and families in so many ways and for more than 20 years! Covid-19 has impacted ACLT, just like many other charities; they haven't been able to operate as usual which would involve attending events to register new donors or fund-raising at social events, including the London marathon. But there are still people living with cancer and blood disorders who need the support of ACLT and will need their help after the corona virus situation is under control. So it's important that the charity continues to function.
Any donations to this amazing cause would be massively appreciated. Literally no amount is too small!
If you've read this far you are truly a G, thank youuuu
