Story
In March 2020, the Coronavirus pandemic affected musicians globally. Within the space of 24 hours, all KCL musical performances and rehearsals were cancelled and students started heading to their homes all over the world.
In response and throughout the Coronavirus pandemic, the KCL Jazz Society has been working hard to keep its members and friends connected and to keep making music by producing virtual performances, online meetings, a successful petition in support of the arts and talks, including a talk supporting Black History Month in October 2020.
Our performances have included Moonlight Serenade, Strike Up the Band, A Big Band Christmas (all 2020); London Calling (featuring Caravan, Stardust and Puttin' on the Ritz, 2021); and a forthcoming performance at the Foden's Online Whit Friday competition in May 2021.
The society is looking forward to the next academic year and getting back to live rehearsals and performances. In normal years the society supports the membership and its activities with ticket sales. We are looking to raise a small amount of money now through this fundraiser to ensure that the society can continue next year and remain free and accessible to all students regardless of backgrounds. Your kind financial support will help pay for equipment and to host concerts of every performance (in-person and online) and ensure we're ready for an exciting year of music making.
Many thanks for all your support.
