Running for Dreamdrops

Thanks for clicking.
What do you do when you have three young kids, a dog, work and after school activities? You sign up and train for a half marathon of course! I always promised myself I would do one, and here's why...
Four years ago our life took an unexpected turn when our twins arrived nearly three months early. A and M were born at 29 weeks and spent 5 weeks in Addenbrookes NICU then 7 weeks in Hinchingbrooke SCBU. M (who weighed in at a whopping 1lb 10oz) required ongoing support at home for a further year, which included 12 months on oxygen and a heart operation at Gt. Ormond St.
With a young child already it was a hugely stressful time, but we had a lovely team supporting us in the Community. We had open access to Holly Ward for when those horrible, annoying illnesses landed, as sadly they often do with premature babies. We're very aware that we've benefitted more than most from our wonderful NHS, and I am grateful for the opportunity to give something back.
Dreamdrops supports SCBU, Holly Ward and the Home Community team and was set up with the aim of raising money to buy those little (and large) extras that aren't covered by NHS public funds but which make a hospital stay more comfortable - or less stressful - for children and their families.
Getting our family to where we are today was a big team effort and thanks to Dreamdrops, stays in SCBU and Holly Ward can be made more comfortable for families. The Wards and Community team benefit from those extra things which make treating and looking after children easier in hospital and at home.
We're all bombarded with requests for charity money, but if you can spare any, please do (and don't forget to gift aid it if you pay tax, to make it stretch further). If you'd prefer, donate to your own charity in our name, or give what you can to a local foodbank. All three? Amazing!!!
Thank you xxx.
