Story
My experience with Jesuit Volunteer Corps helped shape my career, family, and priorities in life. I am asking people to support JVC because I want future generations of ambitious, service-focused college grads to have the same transformational experience I had back in Kansas City in 2003-04.
During my JVC year, I had the privilege of working at a transitional housing program for homeless families, helping women find jobs and serving as a mentor for inner city youth. This experience led me to want to work for a greater good, making a career out of raising money for worthy causes. My community - Bethany, Patrick, Jen, Brian, & Kenno - became my best friends and helped me grow in my faith.
The best part about JVC was that my soul mate knows what it stands for, literally and metaphorically! When I met Lauren at the Celtic 11 years ago, she said JVC, I said JVC, and I knew she was the one - odds are, anyone who does Jesuit Volunteer Corps is going to be someone who values faith, service, and community, and I'm forever blessed that Lauren and I share this connection.
Rather than accepting presents, I'm asking my family and friends to support Jesuit Volunteer Corps for my 40th birthday. Together, hopefully we can raise at least $1,000 to help fund retreats, service training, faith-formation, and development efforts for this very worthy cause.
