Story
A few years ago a girl called Tasha came to study my music course at college. She had lost her sight battling a brain tumour and was learning to be independent and confident again. The obstacles she faced were immense but she overcame them all with a sense of humour and selflessness that blew me away. She changed the way I approach my teaching and my life. She aced her studies, won awards, raised a stupid amount of money for charity, and went off to uni with a scholarship.
I then heard the news that she was diagnosed with a new high grade tumour and was having to go through Chemo again. Its absolutely devastating that life can do this to such a good person. And then I see people online, moaning about the weather and what so-and-so said about so-and-so and frankly it makes me f*cking angry.
Being the amazing person she is, Tasha is now an ambassador for the brain tumour charity and the only thing I can think of to do to help is shave my hair off. To try and raise awareness, to help the charity find a cure, to help Tasha and many others like her who face these obstacles every day while we get on with our lives.
