Story
For those of you who know, the Fred needs no introduction. For those of you who aren't aware of it, the Fred Whitton Challenge is one of the toughest sportives in the UK. It's a 112 mile ride around the Lake District - one of the most beautiful areas of England... and also one of the hilliest! When I first heard about it I couldn't understand for the life of me why anyone would choose to do something so ridiculous. If I stop and think about it for too long I still can't...
Taking in the major passes of Kirkstone, Honister, Newlands, Whinlatter, Hardknott and Wrynose (and many more climbs in between) and including gradients of up to 1:3 this is one tough day out. These passes aren't easy even in a car and I'm going to ride my bike over them!
I can't guarantee I'll be able to ride up them all without stopping, I can't guarantee there won't be any pushing and, to be honest, I can't even guarantee I'll be able to finish the route but I can promise it will be the hardest thing I've ever done and I'm willing to give it all the beans I have!!
Your sponsorship will help to inspire and motivate me on my hours on the turbo trainer, my training rides in the evenings and weekends and on the day itself. Most importantly it will help Macmillan continue doing their amazing work supporting people affected by cancer. Thank you for visiting my Just Giving page.
