Billy was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in April 2021. Initially he did very well with medication and continued with life as normal. He was still walking, cycling and working at NHS Borders up until October last year.
In March this year his cancer became very aggressive and he rapidly became very Ill.
He spent the last weeks of his life being cared for in the Margaret Kerr Unit as he was too unwell to be transferred home. The care he received was second to none, he could not have been better looked after. We as his family were also looked after by the staff not only with comforting words but tea and toast at 4 in the morning.
Instead of funeral flowers the family would like to ask that family and friends give a donation to the Margaret Kerr Unit to help provide the same care to other patients and families that also need this invaluable support.
