Story

Since 2020, I have been a member of the The Women’s Prison Association (WPA) Junior Board. I decided to have a fundraiser from Giving Tuesday until  the end  the year. My goal is $1000.

The WPA is the nation's first organization for systems-involved women. As an organization that invests in alternatives to incarceration, WPA challenges policymakers, community leaders, and stakeholders to think differently about how we can meet the needs of women impacted by incarceration and homelessness.

New York City alone spends $178 million to incarcerate 320 women in local jails for one year—that’s over half a million dollars for one woman. Imagine what could be done if we reinvested that money into community-based solutions for women and their families.
