Joy, it’s all in her name. As a wife, Mum, Granny, friend and colleague, she lit up lives with her joyful laughter, smile and kindness. Her entire life was about enabling and facilitating others to achieve their aims and potential. She did this in abundance managing care homes and caring for those living with dementia. Joy was full of energy, warmth and a sense of fun. She literally brought joy to others. She humbly hid her own light but taught us all how to smile and always added a touch of sparkle.
Joy was diagnosed with intrahepatic biliary duct cancer in December 2019. It shook all our lives to the core but throughout her gruelling six months of chemotherapy treatment, all she asked for was hope; hope that there would be brighter days ahead. This was not to be. This cruel and aggressive disease took our Joy on 7 July 2020 when she died aged 66 at home surrounded by her family. The brightest star of all.
