Story
What is it all about?
My name is Josh I'm 17 and a member of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets. The cadets has granted me multiple opportunities and this is one of the greatest so far, I am currently a student on a leadership course called Junior Leaders. The course is aimed at developing young people into strong and confident leaders, the course is heavily supported by the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation and I'm taking this opportunity to give back.
The JTYAF
The charity was set up by the parents of John Thornton who tragically died while serving in Afghanistan in 2008. Growing up he was also a member of the Air Cadets and went on to complete the Junior Leaders course in 2001, the course shaped him into who he was and helped him to become a Royal Marines Commando doing what he loved till his death. The charity is aimed at helping young people achieve their dreams by providing them with scholarships and bursaries so they can continue their personal development. Since it was formed it has made awards to almost 2000 people totaling over £700,000.
My Aim
I would like to raise at least £500 for the charity, by completing a 15,000ft skydive on the 3rd of April. Since joining the Air Cadets I have been taught how to fly and have flown solo and during this time I have always been told "who in their right mind would want to jump out of a perfectly serviceable aircraft?" well I guess I finally have an answer to that question.
