Like many of you we were shocked when on 21 November 2021, our Dad, Jonathan Perry sadly passed away suddenly. 

Jon was a loving husband who celebrated his 40th wedding anniversary in July of this year. He was the greatest father to 4 and caring grandfather to 7. 

We are so thankful to all who have asked how they can support us in this sad time and whether they can donate for flowers for the funeral or to a charity. 

The truth is that Dad was not a fan of waste and we know that if we opted for flowers, dozens would be wasted. Therefore we have opted for donations to a charity and there isn’t a charity more fitting than one that deals with the matter of high cholesterol. 

We are therefore hoping to raise funds in support of HEART UK who are a UK charity that provide support, information and influencing services for families and health professionals. 

Dad died from a heart attack that was caused by high cholesterol in his blood stream. Dad had familial hypercholesterolaemia which is a disorder that causes very high (bad) cholesterol levels in the blood. 

Familial hypercholesterolaemia is a genetic disorder that is passed down through families. To put it simply,  there is a fault with one of the genes in removing bad cholesterol from the blood, this leads to a high amount of bad cholesterol in the blood. Too much bad cholesterol in the blood can lead to blood vessels being clogged up which in turn can restrict the flow of blood around the body. This can cause heart disease as well as it can lead to heart attacks or strokes. Most people don’t know they have it until it’s too late.
