Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The older I get, the more people I inevitably meet who have been affected by cancer. Almost everyone I know seems to have lost someone prematurely because of it.
My first wife Beverley died of cancer in 1998. She was 34 at the time. Towards the end of her life, and as her illness progressed, a pretty horrible situation was made somewhat easier by the many doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals, who were on hand to support me, as I was trying to support her. Even in the most dire circumstances, I know that the quality of care people receive can still make a huge difference for the better. For that reason, I'm not in any doubt how important the work of Marie Curie Cancer Care is.
Although I haven't cycled much recently, I'm not exactly a beginner. I've cycled from Coast to Coast 4 times before. Two of those were fundraising rides, although I myself didn't contribute much in that regard. Those rides were all on road and with friends.
This one is going to be different from other ones I've done in that a lot of this one is going to be off-road on cycle tracks and bridleways, two things I've purposely avoided on previous trips. Luckily, I've just bought a mountain bike. Also, this trip will be a bit different because I'm doing it with around 50 people I haven't met yet. Let's hope they're nice!
All the costs of this trip are being paid for by me, so any money you'd like to donate will go directly to Marie Curie.
