Story
Hello and Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have chosen to Cycle 1000miles from Lands End to John O Groats (LEJOG) on 31st of August 2013 in an effort to raise funds for Alzheimer's Society Charity.
Alzheimer's is a Charity very personal to me as I lost my Dad to this terrible disease in March 2007. It is a disease that affects around 800,000 people in the UK and has a major impact on their families and carers. The Society's fight is to offer support for people with all types of dementia and their carers. Their support network of local services touch the lives of over 30,000 people every week.
As most of you know I enjoy my cycling and over the years I have tackled a number of 1 day sportives around the 60 to 80 mile distance. For this challenge I will be averaging 100+ miles per day and spending roughly 8 - 9 hours in the saddle Ouch! I am tackling this with 300 other like minded nutters as part of the UK End To End challenge.
The Route is as follows:-
Day 1 - LANDS END to OKEHAMPTON - 110 Miles
Day 2 - OKEHAMPTON to BRISTOL - 105 Miles
Day 3 - BRISTOL to SHREWSBURY - 125 Miles
Day 4 - SHREWSBURY to LANCASTER - 125 Miles
Day 5 - LANCASTER to MOFFATT - 115 miles
Day 6 - MOFFATT to HELENSBURGH - 90 Miles
Day 7 - HELNSBURGH to FORT WILLIAM - 100 Miles
Day 8 - FORT WILLIAM to LAIRG - 110 Miles
Day 9 - LAIRG to JOHN O GROATS - 100 Miles
Once again thanks for taking the time to visit this page and hopefully supporting Alzheimer's Society and me over the next few months when I will be training hard to ensure that even if faced with the typical British weather I will be fit enough to complete the route in one piece.
