Story
Thank you for taking the time to look in at what I'm doing.
Running the London Marathon has been on my mind for a number of years, although I've successfully put it off until now. I've finally taken the plunge, and I'm going to try to raise a small sum of money for RNIB in the process. My Nan has been registered blind for twenty years but with the help of organisations such as RNIB she is still able to look after herself in her own home at the ripe old age of 95 - an incredible achievement, and a good cause I hope you'll agree.
Every fifteen minutes someone is told they are losing their sight and RNIB can currently only reach one in three of them. Hopefully we can help to incresae that. Just £5 could help a recently diagnosed person to claim £100 of support to which they are entitled. £500 could pay for someone at a desperate time in their life to have six sessions of one to one professional counselling. £1000 could provide a whole week of dedicated support at an eye clinic, helping people to understand and live with their sight loss.
Marathon day is just the end of the story; the fund raising starts now and that's where you come in. As well as accepting your kind donations, I shall be trying to swell the pot by doing some (small) favours for (lots of??) money. So, please dig deep and I'll try to reward you with a good performance on the day.
How fast? Well... Judging by current performance, just under four hours should be in my sights, but really I'd love to think that sub 3:30 is a possibility. The mind is willing, the body less so - hopefully we can fix that! Wish me luck...
