We are raising funds in memory of our amazing beloved and inspirational dad and husband, John Harris, who sadly passed away in the ICU ward at the Royal Berks on the 28th September. 

John fought for his life for 4 months after elective heart surgery, battling many many setbacks and infections following the procedure. He spent his last 6 weeks in ICU in Reading. The amazing team did everything in their power to support his recovery and rehab him, also looking after us as a family in the most amazing way. We thought dad had turned a corner and then unfortunately contracted sepsis again. 

The staff went above and beyond to ensure dad met his precious grandson who born 4 days before he passed. He was wheeled to the gardens in his bed where we met as a family, something we will always treasure. 

We cannot thank the staff in ICU enough for their care and compassion but were saddened to see the state of the building and how desperately they need funds to update. They are giving world class care up against leaking roofs, broken toilets and cramped conditions.
