Story
It's such a surreal feeling to think that I'm actually an official Guinness World Record title holder, jointly held with my awesome brother-in-law, John Darwen!
3 challengers take to the road to set a new Guinness World Record for the 'farthest distance
pulling a vehicle in 24 hours. Myself, James Baker and Dan Callaghan
We three are
currently in the process of training to break another Guinness World Record for
'the farthest distance pulling a vehicle in 24 hours with a (minimum) 1.5-tonne
vehicle. However, this year, the plan will be to do it all over again and break
our OWN record by going the EXTRA mile quite a few times more. 30+ miles, to be
exact!
The reason
The aim is to raise as much money as possible to
support two fantastic charities. One of them is exceptionally close to my
heart. The charity that I am raising money for is Cancer Research UK and
raising awareness for occupational therapy and Redeeming Our Communities.
For myself, both ROC and Cancer Research UK have
been significant parts of my life. While only 17, I was diagnosed with
Leukaemia and had to undergo three to four years of life-saving chemotherapy.
Being cancer-free now for over 12 years feels incredible! I really believe that
anyone can achieve their fullest potential and achieve the impossible.
Therefore, I hope to give back to those who helped save my life many years ago!
I know many more people are going through cancer treatment at this point in
time, so doing something heroic with the gift of life would be an honour and a
privilege to do.
The attempt will be taking place at Elvington
Airfield (next door to the York Air Museum), starting officially at 1 pm on the Thursday 25th August 2022
It is never too
late, and it is never too hard to make the change you want to see in yourself!
