Story
John was a fun loving, light hearted gentle giant who was loved by so many people. Whether it was his pranks and wind-ups, his embarrassing stories, his love of cats and wrestling, or his understated kindness and generosity, there were so many things that made him special. The heartbreak from our loss of such a funny and great guy is felt far and wide.
In 2014 John was diagnosed with a chronic liver disease called PSC which in most cases causes damage to the liver resulting in an eventual liver transplant. The cause of PSC is still not known, which makes effective treatment difficult.
John was generally very positive about his condition and tried his best to stay as active and sociable as he could, but over the years it caused him a lot of suffering. PSC led to him needing a liver transplant and in November 2022 he passed away 6 months post transplant. In memory of our beautiful John we'd like to raise money to support research and development to treat and cure this disease and support those suffering with it.

Here is some information from the charity:
Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) is a rare and complex immune-mediated disease of the bile ducts. Symptoms can be severe and unpredictable, sometimes progressing so far that the only lifesaving option is a liver transplant. People with PSC live with an increased risk of developing some cancers, including bile duct cancer and colon cancer. More than three quarters also live with inflammatory bowel disease. Even after a liver transplant, PSC returns in around a third of patients. There is no way to slow or stop the progress of this devastating disease and people living with PSC desperately need a cure. Your donations will help PSC Support to provide much-needed support and information to people affected by PSC. Critically, they'll help PSC Support to fund groundbreaking PSC research, taking us closer and closer to a cure. Every penny counts.Thank you. #LetsBeatPSC
