Story

I am 81 years old and my plan is to walk 81 (now increased to 100) miles to raise money to support the wonderful work of ILA volunteers in helping the oppressed of Iran. I should be most grateful if you would sponsor me in this endeavour. To make it slightly more challenging I will count only walks of more than 3 miles so that only walks over and above  my routine daily exercise will be included.

I have been associated with the work of ILA and its forerunners for about 30 years - initially this was to support the care in Europe of the children of Iranian parents who had been executed or imprisoned. Many of those killed were victims of the purge of 1988 in which some 30,000 were executed, perpetrated by, amongst others, the current Iranian president. One of his colleagues, Hamid Noury, is currently on trial in Sweden for his role in the massacre.

Subsequently the focus was to support Iranians in exile in Iraq and then in Europe. Now it is to support the oppressed people of Iran. You can read more about this at:
