Story
Incredibly the finishing post has been reached and the marathon completed after 5 hours 56 minutes and 6 seconds of running. There is no doubt that it has been a tremendous honour to have been able to run the London Marathon to raise money for the central funds of HCPT! After all the months of training; the early morning's in the snow back in January; the cycling to Kettering in the rain (a round trip of at least 28 miles); the discipline to keep going when feeling weak, has all been worth it! Three weeks prior to the marathon, following an 18 mile run, the ankles were struggling. Walking was uncomfortable, and so from then on in, all the training was non weight-bearing!
The day itself was an incredible experience and one that will stay in the memory for life. You can read all about the joy of the run by visiting http://johnnybonner.blogspot.com/
It is hard to beleive that the target of £2,000 has already been reached. I have been overwelmed by the generosity and support and prayers from so many people and feel indebted to so many! Thank you so much!
The plan was originally to raise enough money to bring three children to Lourdes on pilgrimage. Who knows maybe we can take more than that number!
Finally, I Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This effort has not been about the run but about who I am running for. Your generosity means more than you can imagine!
Should you wish to make a donation you can still do so. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and remember the encouragment of St Vincent de Paul: "Give a little it helps a lot!"
With deep gratitude,
John Bonner
