Story
On Saturday the 19th March, I will be hosting an 8-hour stream on my Twitch Channel (https://www.twitch.tv/joelvsarthritis) to raise awareness of WORD Day 2022 and rheumatic disease in children.
Nonstop from 9am-5pm (GMT), we'll be streaming games, sharing stories, interviewing guests and running competitions throughout the day. Drop-in and join the fun.
All donations received for this event and during the stream will be in aid of Juvenile Arthritis Research - https://www.jarproject.org, a patient-led charity making a difference to the lives of those affected by juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA).
What is WORD Day?
World yOung Rheumatic Diseases Day (WORD Day) is an annual event that takes place on 18th March.
The ultimate aim of WORD Day is to raise the awareness and knowledge level of parents, doctors, primary practitioners, teachers, and the general public to help first and foremost in early diagnoses, and a quick referral to specialised paediatric rheumatologists. We hope that awareness will have a ripple effect on all levels of practitioners who come in contact with these children, improving the level of treatment they receive and their prognosis worldwide.
How can I get involved?
There are many ways you can help or participate in this important event.
Simply finding time to join the stream, chat with other viewers and get involved with the onscreen action will help our engagement and the number of people we reach on the day massively.
You can also simply share our fundraising link (https://www.justgiving.com/Joel-Nelson) and Facebook event (https://www.facebook.com/events/498012288580078).
Suppose you would like to be involved in a more hands-on way. In that case, we are looking for patient advocates, charity reps and other people of interest to join the stream throughout the day to share their experiences and be interviewed live on camera.
We are also looking for sponsors, prizes to giveaway onstream and any other offers that may help raise awareness and donations.
