Sarah's Walk for Wards - Stambridge Ward page

Joan (Nana) had spent quite a lot of time in Southend Hospital since February this year. In the time we have spent visiting her we have seen the lovely way that the nurses have cared for her. In August she spent three weeks on Stambridge Ward which had a lovely feel. Unfortunately three weeks later she had a chest infection and went back into Southend Hospital and into Stambridge.
The staff remembered her, which in a strange way made us feel like we were at home and with an extended family. The level of care shown to Joan and also to our family during her last few days has left a lasting impression on us all. From the chats about Holby City when it was on the tv, to the gentle way Joan was looked after in her last few hours, to the cups of tea and spare mattress that appeared just as they were needed.
Doing the walk is a way we can say a thank you to the staff on the ward as words cannot really explain fully how we feel about the care that Joan and us, her family had during this time.
So.. if you are able to... please sponsor us... however small an amount.. it all helps
Many thanks...
