Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit the JustGiving page in tribute to my Dad - Jim (Jimmy) Brimble [1944-2021].
Dad passed away at the age of 76 years on Saturday, 13 March 2021 (in the Haematology Ward in the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital).
Dad was diagnosed with Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinaemia (WM) in 2014. WMUK helped and supported Dad and our family following his diagnosis and WMUK signposted us to Dr Shirley D’Sa at University College London Hospital. Shirley looked after Dad for the remaining years of his life, and he overcame many hurdles along the way. Sadly, Dad finally succumbed to Lymphoma after a short battle with a very rare and aggressive transformation of his WM.
WM is an incurable disease but because it is so rare, research to find a cure is relatively poorly funded. As such, WMUK is a very small charity even though it provides invaluable aid for the people whose lives are affected by WM, directly or indirectly.
Any donation that you could make would be such an amazing tribute to my Dad, as well as hugely beneficial to the charity in helping support people like us when as a family they face the reality of a loved one being diagnosed (and then living) with WM.
Quite literally, every penny we can raise makes a difference, so please consider making a donation (of any size) to honour the life and courage of my wonderfully brave Dad.
This page is to honour Jim (Jimmy) Brimble – the best Husband, Dad, Grandad, Brother, Uncle, Father in Law, colleague and friend anybody could wish for and the loveliest (and funniest) man we’ve ever known. Our hearts are broken. We will miss you forever. XOX
