I am running the London Marathon in April 2016. If Ido it, it will fulfill a life-long ambition !

I've decided to run for Oxfam as a great admirer of the amazing work they do finding solutions to poverty and what it considers injustice around the world. In all of Oxfam's actions, the ultimate goal is to enable people to exercise their rights and manage their own lives. Oxfam works directly with communities and seeks to influence the powerful, to ensure that people who live in poverty can improve their lives and and have a say in decisions that affect them.

As a professional working in the Fairtrade sector, I am grateful that my role has a meaningful purpose, through improving the livelihoods of the farmers and their families. I am aware of the role Oxfam has played in the Fair Trade movement as a whole. Oxfam was one of the pioneers more than 40 years ago and has been involved in its successful growth in the UK ever since. 

I would also like to highlight that I am currently working in Liberation Foods, the UK's only Fairtrade‎ farmer owned nut company. We buy nuts from the Cooperatives of small-scale growers and farmers who own a 44 percent share of our company. Liberation brings together peanut farmers from Nicaragua, cashew farmers from India and Brazil nut gatherers from the Amazon rainforest. Our producer shareholders are united in their goal of selling their delicious nuts through their own company – they feel empowered to be actively involved in the whole supply chain.

Oxfam has been a leading supporter of fairer trade with farmers and producers around the world. Oxfam has been proud to offer products from the leading Fairtrade brands in their shops and support Liberation Foods’ commitment to raising the bar. Every time you buy a fairtrade product you're supporting someone else in the world. Oxfam is currently selling Liberation foods products in their shops thus supporting our farmers in Bolivia, Nicaragua and India.
