My Neice Isabelle was diagnosed with hypaplastic aortic arch (HAA) following a referral to Leeds cardiac until at her 20 week scan. HAA is a narrowing of the aorta and therefor Isabelle had to have immediate medical intervention once born and open heart surgery, otherwise she would of died. The Leeds congenital heart unit is a friendly, professional and supportive unit, a charity supporting it is the children's heart surgery fund. This provides home from home comforts for patients and relatives whilst they are being cared for on the unit. It provides medical equipment and contributes towards improvements within the unit from operating theatres to thermometers. They also contribute towards another charity which provides a room to stay in a minutes walk away from where Isabelle is being cared for, this is a home from home and allow Sam and Rob to feel safe and to be close if they need to see Isabelle. This is provided to them and many other families free of charge, this cost the charity £30 to support a family for one night. Without this charity, they would of had to of drove to and from Blyth daily or paid for hotels. 

As an Aunty, and as a sister I've felt completely helpless. By raising money for this fantastic charity it has given me a focus but also a purpose. What the charities and the people do behind them is incredible, also the nurses, consultants and surgeans who are caring daily for our loved ones. Thier work is amazing. I hope we can raise enough money for this charity who are continuously doing so well due to the kindness of others. I am so proud of Isabelle so let's make her proud of us.
