Story
To all my family and friends,
On 21st April 2024 I will be running the London Marathon on behalf of Brain Research UK.
As many of you are aware, my dad Tim sadly passed away in March 2021, aged 58, just 2 years after he was diagnosed with Early Onset Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD). FTD is rare type of dementia, thought to account for less than one in 20 of all dementia cases, typically affecting people between the ages of 45 and 64. There is no cure for this disease, and no treatment options currently available to help slow the progression down. Finding out that there was nothing that could be done to help dad fight this disease was incredibly difficult for our family to process.
Brain Research UK is the UKs leading national funder dedicated to research into neurological conditions. They fund vital research to increase understanding, improve diagnosis and treatment, and work towards the prevention of neurological conditions, to help people who suffer with them live better, for longer.
I would be so grateful for any donation, big or small, to help make a difference to the lives of patients and their families living with this disease in the future. It's harrowing watching someone you love go through something as awful as this, knowing that there isn't anything that can be done to help. I hope with enough funding into vital research, the future will start to look a little brighter soon.
