Story

Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page

What am I doing?

At 5895m Mount Kilimanjaro is one of the largest volcanoes ever to break through the Earth's crust. Along with colleagues from Network Rail and the wider rail industry the plan is to reach its summit and raise loads of money for a good cause in the process. It will take us eight days (six days to go up and two days to come down) in October 2010. The good news is that we are being helped by the same crew who took the Comic Relief celebs on the same trek in 2009 - so we are in good hands!

I am paying for the cost of the trip myself (over £2500), and now need all the help I can get to raise the sponsorship to meet my target.

Why am I doing this?

Because I'm mad? Well possibly, but also because this is the chance to fulfil an ambition to get to the top of one of the world's great mountains, whilst making a real difference for some of the most vulnerable individuals in the world who are a lot less fortunate than you and I.

So please dig deep and donate NOW!

Railway Children focuses its work specifically on the relief of children and young people living alone and at risk on the streets in need of care and protection. They work in the UK, India, and East Africa.

Railway Children provide the shelter, food, clothing, education and healthcare that are all essential to a child's wellbeing. Their goal is to intervene with a child at the earliest opportunity before an abuser does. They aim to stop a runaway child becoming a street child.

It's about getting to street kids before the streets get to them.
