Story
2020 marks 20 years since my Dad died of a brain tumour. To commemorate the year I am running the London Marathon this April in my Dad’s memory.
I’ve got my trainers, downloaded Strava, now I just need to
run…..All. The. Time. Motivation can be difficult. Especially on cold and rainy dark nights, but the challenge of going out for a run is nothing compared to the challenges that my Dad faced. So I pull on my trainers.
Sadly, even if my Dad had his diagnosis today his chances of survival would not be much better as little improvement has been made to brain tumour survival rates in the last 20 years. Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40, yet less than 3% of national cancer research funding is spent on them.
£250 funds a day of research at the Brain Tumour Charity. I am aiming to raise £5,000 as this would cover 20 days - 1 day's research for every year that Mum and I have been without my Dad. I would be so grateful for any support towards this that you can give me. Thank you.
